Photo Friday – A Rainier Sunset
I took my camera, my stove, and my dinner up to Spray Park. Finding an exposed ridge line, I sat looking back and forth between the sunset and the reflected colors on Mount Rainier. These two shots were taken in the height of color.
Photo Friday – Sunset Over the Mountains
I took my camera, my stove, and my dinner up to Spray Park. Finding an exposed ridge line, I sat watching as the sun sank low in the sky. This was taken at the height of color.
Photo Friday – Spray Falls
This picture was taken with a B+W Neutral Density 3.0 MRC Filter. This filter was needed to slow the shutter speed on such a brilliant day.
Photo Friday – Round She Goes
One of my favorite hikes in the world, this is just a small chunk of the breathtaking Wonderland Trail.
Photo Friday – Winter Bowl
This is a shot from several years ago. The shadows and light on this beautiful bowl in the Tatoosh Mountain Range.
Photo Friday – The Path Up
Last week I shared a picture of Mazama Ridge along the Skyline Trail in the winter. This week, I thought I’d share a vision of it in the summer. It holds a different yet equal beauty to it.
Photo Friday – Shadows and Light
Last week I shared a picture of Mount Rainier from my hike around the Skyline Trail. This week, I wanted to share another picture from the same day, pointing in a different direction. Despite the lack of the prominent mountain in the background, this image has an equally beautiful quality to it. The way the sun pushes through the close, leaving dark and light, smooth and sparkly textures on the snow.
Photo Friday – Skyline Loop
A couple weekends ago I got the unique opportunity to go snow shoeing on a sunny day in Washington. We took the traditional Skyline Loop route, starting from the Paradise parking lot, we headed up to Mazama Ridge, followed that to Panorama Point, and headed back down to the Paradise Snow Play area. The Snow Play was oddly closed off due to a shooting the weekend before that resulted in the tragic death of a forest ranger. A crime that had no purpose and that, like many others, should never have occurred. Consider this my own little tribute to that ranger.
